Pimp’s call for inclusivity in top CS:GO competitions is a crucial step towards addressing the issue of Europe-centric behaviour in the esports community. This can lead to the emergence of new strategies and playstyles that keep the game fresh and challenging for all players. Not only can it increase the game’s global appeal, but it can also foster a more diverse and inclusive environment that breaks down barriers and promotes greater understanding and unity within the gaming community.įurthermore, involving the best teams from all regions can help ensure that the game remains competitive and exciting for everyone, not just those in Europe. After all, how can we know their true level of skill and potential if they don’t have equal opportunities to develop and showcase their talent?Įxpanding global competitions to other regions can have numerous benefits for the growth and inclusivity of the esports community. While it’s understandable that viewers may not want to watch low-level opposition in a competition, we should question whether it’s fair to dismiss these teams as such. However, it’s essential to consider the limitations that may be preventing lesser-known teams and players from showcasing their talent. It’s fair to say that most people would want to see the best teams and players compete in global competitions. This has raised concerns about the unequal distribution of opportunities and resources in the CS:GO competitive scene. On the other hand, the American RMR will only see five teams qualify for the competition proper, while the Asia-Pacific region has only two spots available for the main event. The top 8 teams from each route will make it to the Paris Major proper, while the teams placed ninth to eleventh will get a second chance to qualify through the European RMR Decider. Pimp is serving as an Analyst for the competition, which has two qualifying routes for European teams – the European RMR A and the European RMR B. The ongoing 2023 Paris Major is a classic example of this Europe-centric behaviour. ![]() However, concerns have been raised about the game’s Europe-centric nature, with many of the top teams and tournaments being based in Europe. Andy Mill shook the fly -fishing-for-tarpon world last year when he took first place in both the Gold Cup and the Golden Fly tarpon tournaments in a span of two weeks. ![]() Just thought it was worth mentioning to those looking for a different method. Jerry uses about twice as many fiber strands to make up his lines. The feel of the line is like the difference of burlap and silk. When doing the 200lb+ tuna thing on the fly the knot is usually the culprit of a lost fish. It has that chinese handcuff effect on the fly line. Whip the butt end if you like and you are done. I use the 65lb hollow core (about 500 yrds on the 11/13 Torrent Reel) Then take the butt end of the fly line and feed about 4-5 feet inside the hollow core spectra backing. If you use this line for backing there is no need for a knot at all. There is a popular spectra line on the market mainly being used by the conventional guys. You can practice hooking a tarpon on a fly rod? Is that even possible? Yes, and I’ll explain.A little off topic but I just thought I would mention something new I started doing this last year. In order to do so, you need to replicate casting to-and hooking-tarpon when you practice. If you want to catch more tarpon on a fly, you have to improve your tarpon game in the offseason. So why would you expect to hook the first tarpon you get a shot at if you haven’t cast to one in a year? And unlike a yearly round of golf, during which you can work off some rust in your swing by the tenth hole, you might only get a handful of legitimate shots at tarpon during an entire trip. Andy Mill has led a sporting life with few contemporaries. On the evening of October 19, the 2023 Heritage Award will be presented to Andy Mill at Chelsea Piers in New York City. When last I wrote about fly fishing for tarpon in this publication, I warned anyone considering taking up the sport that tarpon can be real assholes. I once found a tarpon under the tarpon tree that leapt into a tree. Or maybe it will be an ugly sweater: rough seas with no chance of spotting any tarpon. Maybe it will be the perfect gift: a courtesy roll by a smug tarpon that doesn’t know I see her and a few pals cruising toward me in the vodka-clear water. "She told me, 'When you're really sick, you remember very little of what's said,' " Rao recounts. She was "clearly uncomfortable," Rao remembers, so he asked her what her husband did during these encounters. The medical visit was the first one in a 10-year history of breast cancer that her husband had not been able to attend with her. Before developing the tool with his partners from Carnegie Mellon University, he recalls consulting with a patient who was about to start a chemotherapy treatment that might affect her heart muscle. Rao was inspired to create the original app based on his own family's experience with a rare disease, as well as his professional experiences. After the call, the physician and patient both receive links via a text message to the visit summary. The physician calls the number, adds the patient to the call, ensures the patient consents, and records the conversation. No app is necessary when the system is used this way. As of late May, there were up to a hundred calls daily initiated by physicians. UPMC began using the system in late March, initially with cardiologists, then expanded to other specialists and primary care physicians, according to UPMC's Chief Medical Information Officer Robert Bart, MD. "In a matter of hours, we trained our system to recognize treatments like Remdesivir in a very robust way so we can really go deep and build a system that goes above and beyond what a lot of the off-the-shelf speech transcription models can do." "We quickly circled with experts at the CDC and put together a list of symptoms, diagnostics, and therapeutics related to coronavirus." The team tried to anticipate and capture any topic related to COVID-19 that clinicians and patients might discuss. The pandemic also created a need for the system to learn new terminology. The ambition is to connect the dots across all these types of encounters to deliver the same kind of value." "We quickly transitioned to building capabilities for phone visits, and we've built a proof of concept for video visits. "In this new paradigm, it's so important to be relevant in the remote space," says Rao. When COVID-19 forced clinicians and patients to interact in new ways, the technology evolved. "All of those annotations then are fed into a machine learning system that helps us train models to automate it." The Pandemic Led to Expansion of Capabilities "These were takeaways or next steps related … to the patient's history of present illness," Rao says. ![]() Experts then transcribed the dialogue to correctly capture medical jargon, and organized that information into specific topics. To build its capabilities, the developers started with recordings of about 76,000 fully consented conversations between physicians and patients, Rao explains. "The transcript provides the opportunity, Rao says, "to layer on health literacy, advocacy, and connection-things that can potentially, over time, improve the experience for everyone involved." The tool also defines key medical terms and medications mentioned during the visit, and provides links to discount coupons for some prescriptions. ![]() "All those moments are pulled out like bookmarks for the audio so that you can experience it again and relive those moments that you might've forgotten." Rao says that the transcript functions like a "bookmark," and when the user touches the screen, the associated audio recording plays. Unlike traditional transcription, he says, the technology is trained to focus only on the medical portion of the encounter, and the transcript highlights key words. "There's research … that suggests that sometimes people only remember 10% to 15% of what was said in the encounter, especially if they have a chronic disease." "It's really about improving the doctor-patient communication by recording those conversations and then creating an interactive transcript that highlights the key medical points."Īiding patient's recollection can help improve healthcare, says Rao. "Abridge was founded, first and foremost, to empower patients to stay on top of their health, but also to keep them, their families, and their clinicians all on the same page," says Rao. ![]() Retroarch crashes on netplay9/28/2023 ![]() Unhandled setting UI: _chairsĮxception code=0xc0000005 flags=0x0 at 0x00007FFAFE7B3EA5. : Enabling 8 and 16-bit integer arithmetic support for more efficient shaders! : Enabling device extension: VK_KHR_driver_properties. : Enabling device extension: VK_EXT_external_memory_host. : Enabling device extension: VK_KHR_sampler_ycbcr_conversion. : Enabling device extension: VK_KHR_timeline_semaphore. : Enabling device extension: VK_KHR_uniform_buffer_standard_layout. : Enabling device extension: VK_EXT_scalar_block_layout. : Enabling device extension: VK_EXT_shader_demote_to_helper_invocation. : Enabling device extension: VK_EXT_host_query_reset. : Enabling device extension: VK_EXT_subgroup_size_control. : Enabling device extension: VK_KHR_multiview. : Enabling device extension: VK_KHR_shader_float16_int8. : Enabling device extension: VK_KHR_16bit_storage. : Enabling device extension: VK_KHR_8bit_storage. : Enabling device extension: VK_EXT_conservative_rasterization. : Enabling device extension: VK_KHR_storage_buffer_storage_class. : Enabling device extension: VK_KHR_shader_draw_parameters. : Enabling device extension: VK_KHR_draw_indirect_count. : Enabling device extension: VK_KHR_bind_memory2. : Enabling device extension: VK_KHR_maintenance3. : Enabling device extension: VK_KHR_maintenance2. : Enabling device extension: VK_KHR_maintenance1. : Enabling device extension: VK_KHR_descriptor_update_template. ![]() : Enabling device extension: VK_KHR_external_memory_win32. : Enabling device extension: VK_KHR_external_semaphore_win32. : Enabling device extension: VK_KHR_external_memory. : Enabling device extension: VK_KHR_external_semaphore. ![]() : Enabling device extension: VK_KHR_sampler_mirror_clamp_to_edge. : Enabling device extension: VK_KHR_image_format_list. : Enabling device extension: VK_KHR_dedicated_allocation. : Enabling device extension: VK_KHR_get_memory_requirements2. : Enabling device extension: VK_KHR_swapchain. : Selected Vulkan GPU: GeForce GTX 1070 Ti ![]() : Enabling instance extension: VK_EXT_debug_utils. : Enabling instance extension: VK_KHR_external_semaphore_capabilities. : Enabling instance extension: VK_KHR_external_memory_capabilities. Let’s have a look at what all of these presets do. These tool settings are all located near the top of your screen, just above your canvas: This tool options will only be visible when the Erase Tool is selected. Now that we’ve gone over how to erase in Inkscape based on the Erase Tool’s various modes, let’s get into the nitty gritty details of the tool so you can unlock its full potential. However, it should be noted though that this is an Inkscape-specific feature, meaning if you save your work and open it in another application (such as Illustrator or Affinity Designer) then the changes may not be preserved.įor this reason it is advised that you use the standard cut-from-shape mode when intending to work cross-platform. You can test it out for yourself to see how it works. The benefit of using this mode is that it’s non-destructive, meaning you can undo any alterations made with the eraser later on if need be by selecting the object and navigating to: this mode creates temporary negative space using a clipping mask: The difference is that instead of erasing the object. The clip mode essentially does the same thing that the cut from shapes mode does. This final mode is a new feature that was added to the Erase Tool for the version 1.0 release of Inkscape. This means that if you want to erase parts of a single object, this would be the ideal mode to use. Everything that the red stroke touches will be erased, but only partially: Cut mode allows you to erase portions of objects. When enabled, clicking and dragging on your canvas will create a red stroke that follows your hand movement. This next mode is what allows you to erase in the most traditional sense and is the default mode for this tool. ![]() Instead, it’s a way of erasing entire objects from your artwork. So in essence, this doesn’t actually “erase” any part of an object. Every object the red line touches will be deleted entirely: Delete mode causes every object you touch to be deleted rather than erased. With this mode enabled, clicking and dragging on across your canvas will generate a red line that follows your hand movement. The first mode that dictates the behavior of the eraser tool is the delete mode. In this part of the lesson we’ll be going over each of these modes, and then digging into all the tool settings later on in the tutorial. ![]() AuthorWrite something about yourself.
